Man Charged with Homicide, Statutory Rape of Greeneville Teen Danielle Owens

Greeneville, TN (WOKI) A months-long investigation into the death of Greeneville teenager Danielle Owens results in an indictment Friday, July 21.

Greeneville Police Department officials announced 32 year-old David A. Dabbs of Greeneville is charged with criminally negligent homicide, aggravated statutory rape, aggravated assault, false reporting, and contributing to the unruly conduct of a child. They said the charges were the result of an investigation involving the police department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Owens was 16 and a student at Greeneville High School at the time her body was found in February in a Greene County cornfield; she’d been reported missing by her family on November 17 and was reportedly last seen on December 11.

A court date is pending.
