A Missing Autistic Girl Found in Douglas Lake on Independence Day

An autistic girl reported missing from her home is found in Douglas Lake.

The Jefferson County Sheriff Office says 7 year-old Serenity Kinsey was reported missing this morning (Thursday) after her family noticed she had left her home on Indian Creek Road sometime in the night. She had left the home two other times in the past but was quickly found both times.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an AMBER Alert for Kinsey. Drones and Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopters and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search.

A K-9 lead police to a dock on Douglas Lake where Divers and an underwater device from the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency began searching the water.

Her body was recovered and taken to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for an autopsy.
