Knoxville Fire Department Responds to Apartment Fire on Daylily Drive

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) Young people playing with fire may be to blame for a fire Friday morning at Montgomery Village Apartments.

Knoxville Fire Department officials say crews responded to the apartment complex in the 1500 block of Daylily Drive around 11:45 a.m. to find
light smoke coming from one of the windows on the upper floor.

KFD says firefighters made quick entry into the apartment and were able to extinguish the fire quickly which was contained to the pantry area.

The apartment suffered significant smoke and water damage. Fire officials believe the initial cause, which remains under investigation, was juveniles playing with fire.

Six people and two dogs escaped the fire uninjured but are displaced until further notice, according to KFD. KFD adds no firefighters were injured in the incident.
