Knoxville, TN (WOKI) The University of Tennessee is putting student safety first, announcing the release of an updated mobile app, Safe at UT.

UT officials say the app will allow students, faculty, and staff to communicate a variety of concerns to the appropriate officials and includes updated features such as a mobile blue light and the ability to reach UT Police via emergency call or text.

The updated features of the Safe at UT app include:

• Friend Walk
• Reach UT Police via emergency call or text
• Access to wellness resources
• Maps/parking and transit resources
• Mobile blue light
