An investigation is underway after an East Knox County house fire.

Rural Metro Fire and other crews responded to the fire early Saturday evening in the 8400 block of Asheville Highway.

Officials say there was smoke and fire on the right side of the structure and crews were able to keep it from spreading.

The home was unoccupied and didn’t have power connected at the time of the fire.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol had to close the eastbound right lane of Asheville Highway while crews battled the fire.

No injuries were reported.
