Georgia cornerback Daniel Harris was arrested and charged with reckless driving Thursday night when Athens-Clarke County police clocked him driving 106 mph on a wet road.

The police incident report said Harris was booked into Clarke County jail at 10:40 p.m. and released at 11:49 on $50 bond. The report also alleges that Harris was driving without a seat belt, had an expired vehicle registration and did not possess proof of insurance.

It’s unclear if Harris was punished by the Bulldogs program, which has a road game at Kentucky on Saturday. Harris, a sophomore, played in the first two games of the season.

It’s also the latest in a long line of driving-related incidents that have plagued Georgia for multiple years.

Most notable among those was the car crash that killed offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy in January 2023. Police said alcohol was involved in the crash, which began when Willock was racing a car driven by Jalen Carter months before he became a first-round NFL draft pick.

According to ESPN, Georgia’s football program has accumulated 20 arrests or citations for a variety of driving-related incidents since that crash alone. They have ranged from DUIs to typical speeding cases.

Most recently, star running back Trevor Etienne was suspended for the 2024 season opener against Clemson after being arrested and charged with DUI last March. Prosecutors dropped the DUI charge as part of Etienne’s plea deal.
