TBI Investigating Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting in Cumberland County

Cumberland County, TN (WOKI) An investigation is underway by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation following an officer-involved shooting in Cumberland County.

TBI officials say the shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the 9000 block of Peavine Road following officers’ pursuit of a suspect, identified as 42-year-old Jody Tollet, of Crab Orchard who was reportedly involved in a domestic incident.

TBI says Tollet exited his vehicle with a handgun and began firing at the officer. The bullet struck the patrol car’s windshield, and then Tollett came toward the officer on foot, resulting in the officer, who is with the Fairfield Glade Police Department, returning fire, striking and killing Tollett.

TBI adds that no law enforcement officers were hurt in the incident.

The officer involved in the incident was not identified.
