Jack Roslovic provided two goals and an assist as the Carolina Hurricanes won their eighth game in a row, a 5-1 rout of the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night at Raleigh, N.C.

Jordan Martinook, Jaccob Slavin and Eric Robinson also scored for the Hurricanes. Jalen Chatfield posted three assists, and Sebastian Aho had two assists.

Carolina’s Pyotr Kochetkov made 35 saves but lost a shutout bid in the third period.

Blake Lizotte scored with 14:52 remaining for the Penguins, who trailed 5-0 at the time. Pittsburgh goalie Alex Nedeljkovic, who formerly played for Carolina, stopped 14 shots.

The Hurricanes had an unusually low number of shots, but they made up for that with efficiency. The game marked the end of Carolina’s 4-0-0 homestand, with Kochetkov in net for all of those games.

Pittsburgh didn’t convert on its chances, going 0-for-4 on power plays. Still, the Penguins prevented the Hurricanes from recording their first shutout of the season when Lizotte took advantage of Kochetkov’s misplayed puck.

Carolina scored on two of its four first-period shots on goal. The Penguins were blanked on their 10 shots.

Martinook, who hadn’t scored this season until Tuesday, was at it again with a goal 52 seconds into the game.

Roslovic’s first goal of the night came off a nifty assist from Aho in transition at 8:47.

Roslovic notched his ninth goal of the season near the midway mark of the second period, giving the Hurricanes three goals on 10 shots.

Slavin’s first goal of the season made it 4-0 and came on Carolina’s 12th shot. The secondary assist from Roslovic marked his first assist of the campaign.

Robinson registered his third goal of the season with Martin Necas extending his points streak to eight games by earning an assist on the play 2:07 into the third period.

Lizotte produced his second goal of the season.

The Penguins fell 4-1 to Carolina last month in Pittsburgh.
